Job Overview
The Security Guard is tasked with safeguarding assets, ensuring the safety of people on-site, managing pedestrian and vehicular traffic, and providing assistance to visitors. The role includes routine patrolling, monitoring traffic, and responding to security or emergency situations.
Responsibilities
- Patrol Duties: Conduct routine patrols by foot or vehicle, inside and outside the facility, to deter and report any security or safety issues.
- Traffic Management: Control and direct traffic flow, ensuring safe pedestrian crossings and guiding vehicular movements using signs, flags, and hand signals.
- Incident Response: Respond to and report incidents, complete required forms (e.g., Incident, Citizen Arrest, Criminal Trespass), and notify emergency services when needed.
- Visitor Assistance: Provide directions, information, and assistance to visitors at the facility.
- Safety Maintenance: Identify and address unsafe conditions to prevent injuries or hazards.
- Emergency Support: Maintain order during emergencies until help arrives and administer basic first aid or CPR as needed.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience: At least six months of experience working with the public.
- Licensing and Certifications: Ability to obtain a Security Guard license in Alaska and complete first aid/CPR certification within three months of hire.
- Driver’s License: A valid state driver’s license with a safe driving record (as per company policy).
- Clearances: Ability to pass a drug/alcohol test and a criminal background check, and may require a security clearance.
