Data Center Technician – USA – Prudhoe Bay – On-site Reboot Monkey

Job Overview:

As a Freelance Data Center Technician, you'll provide on-demand support across Reboot Monkey's global data centers. Your primary responsibilities include:

• Installing and maintaining servers, networking equipment, and other hardware.
• Monitoring operations remotely and on-site, troubleshooting issues to maintain uptime.
• Managing and configuring Cisco and Juniper devices, ensuring secure network operations.
• Working on both Linux and Windows systems, applying patches, updates, and security measures.
• Documenting all technical activities and collaborating with remote teams to support data center efficiency and innovation.

Qualifications:

• Experience:
  • 3+ years in data center operations, especially in freelance or independent projects.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco and Juniper networking devices.
  • Proficiency in Windows and Linux system management.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, VPN, VLANs, and virtualization (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V is a plus).
• Certifications:
  • Highly desirable certifications include Cisco CCNA/CCNP, Juniper JNCIA/JNCIS, and CompTIA Linux+.
• Education:
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field is preferred.
• Additional Skills:
  • Ability to work independently, solve problems effectively, and communicate clearly with remote teams.
  • Flexibility to travel to data centers on short notice and work outside standard hours.
